Kuala lumpur: A feasibility study for the construction of a five-kilometre wall and security road along both sides of the existing Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Sarawak is set to begin during the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) period. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, stated that the project, proposed by the National Security Council (MKN), aims to enhance security control along the Sarawak-Kalimantan border.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zaliha emphasized that the project is part of the MADANI Government’s initiative to improve the country’s border control in an organized way, specifically targeting the closure or reduction of illegal routes often used for smuggling and illegal immigration. She provided this information during a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat, addressing a query from Roy Angau Gingkoi (GPS-Lubok Antu) about the MKN’s plans for a border security road alignment along the Sarawak-Kalimantan border.
Dr Zaliha further explained that the project’s implementation is anticipated to bolster monitoring, prevention, and enforcement capabilities in the border region in a more integrated manner.
