Fahmi Fadzil Emphasizes Need for Improved Government Communication

Kuala lumpur: Government communication regarding policies and achievements is set to be enhanced to ensure public understanding and impact, as stated by PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. He highlighted the need to address communication shortcomings so that the government's macroeconomic achievements can translate into tangible benefits for the public. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi noted that many successful government policies introduced by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his team have not been adequately appreciated or understood by the majority. He made these remarks during his speech at the 2026 PKR National Congress. Fahmi, also the Communications Minister, emphasized the importance of considering the emotional aspects of the public to ensure that government achievements are genuinely felt and appreciated. He mentioned plans to enhance cooperation with grassroots leaders to improve information dissemination. He also outlined the expansion of smaller-scale talks, allowi ng policy explanations in a relaxed setting and offering direct interaction with the public. Cooperation with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will be strengthened to combat the spread of false information. Fahmi revealed that since the recent Johor state election, MCMC identified over 8,410 fake accounts exploiting sensitive issues and requested their removal. Addressing these issues is vital to prevent manipulation that undermines the public's understanding of government efforts. Fahmi assured that any media-related complaints about inaccurate information would be resolved respectfully, emphasizing that the government is not aiming to control the media but seeks corrections where necessary. He also mentioned adjustments to the communication strategy and collaboration with the Wanita wing to ensure effective dissemination of information.
