Kuala terengganu: The government is continuously working with the authorities to monitor and curb the spread of deviant teachings in the country. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the role of the community, including non-governmental organisations and related institutions, is also crucial in addressing the issue and ensuring that Malaysia remains a model Islamic nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli stated that they are constantly cooperating with the authorities and monitoring the situation. All deviant teachings are within their radar, and monitoring and enforcement efforts must be carried out in accordance with the law. He made these remarks while officiating the ‘Skuad Ihsan MADANI’ (Religious Affairs) post-disaster aid programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Padang Midin.
On Thursday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay revealed that 14 deviant teachings have been identified as still active in the country and are being closely monitored by the Royal Malaysia Police. Meanwhile, Zulkifli noted that the ministry, through its related agencies, remains proactive in conducting advocacy programmes for various segments of society. These programmes aim to address the dangers of deviant teachings while also promoting the teachings of Islam based on the Quran and Sunnah.
Zulkifli emphasized the importance of conveying the true teachings of Islam to eradicate deviant teachings. Earlier, he presented aid in the form of basic necessities and school supplies to more than 100 residents in Kuala Terengganu affected by floods during the current monsoon season. He highlighted that a total of 540 students and 772 families affected by floods in Terengganu have benefited from the ‘Skuad Ihsan’ mission, implemented by all agencies under his ministry.
