Continue Support, Expand K2K Programme – Dr Wan Azizah

Kuala lumpur: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of the Prime Minister, has called for continued support and expansion of the Kita-Untuk-Kita (K2K) Programme to benefit more communities in public housing areas. The Bandar Tun Razak MP emphasized the importance of the programme, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in April 2023, as part of efforts to empower communities in People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in a comprehensive and inclusive manner.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme comprises four key components: community empowerment, co-management of public housing, economic and income enhancement, as well as advocacy and policy reform. Dr Wan Azizah highlighted that over 50,000 residents in the Klang Valley are now part of a transformative wave making their communities more resilient and sustainable. She made these remarks during a ceremony celebrating the academic excellence of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students from PPR Taman Mulia under the programme.

Dr Wan Azizah further stated that the PPR Taman Mulia community opted to implement the Free SPM Tuition Project under the K2K Community Grant Programme. This initiative directly impacted over 40 students while bolstering the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility. The project received RM17,052 in funding through the K2K Community Grant, managed by Think City, facilitating 48 classes for core subjects and providing essential learning facilities.

The K2K Community Grant not only supports PPR Taman Mulia but also targets 10 public housing areas in the Klang Valley, with a total of 39 community projects worth over RM1 million. These initiatives span various fields, including education, family health, safety, cleanliness, culture, and sports, contributing to the overall improvement of the community’s quality of life.

Dr Wan Azizah also shared the success of the Free SPM Tuition Project, which produced five students who achieved 8As and three students who scored 5As. At the ceremony, students who excelled received the Excellent Student Award, while others were honored with the Motivation Award, Commitment Award, and Friendship Award. Additionally, four teachers were recognized with the Educator Award, and one individual received the Community Mobiliser Award.
