Putrajaya: The Communications Ministry has announced its readiness to share its expertise on Malaysia’s 5G network and the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela) with Uzbekistan. Minister Fahmi Fadzil emphasized that this initiative aims to accelerate digital transformation in various sectors, enhancing global competitiveness and societal well-being.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry’s willingness to share expertise was in line with discussions held between Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Maxsudov Jamol in Putrajaya last May. The meeting highlighted the significance of strengthening ties through advancements in 5G technology, online safety, and the development of a sustainable digital ecosystem.
Fahmi, who also serves as the Unity Government’s spokesperson, mentioned that elevating bilateral relations between Malaysia and Uzbekistan to a strategic partnership could yield significant benefits for both nations while bolstering ASEAN’s cooperation with Uzbekistan. He acknowledged the official visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Malaysia as a reaffirmation of this strong commitment, which is highly appreciated by the Malaysian government.
President Mirziyoyev arrived in Malaysia yesterday for a two-day official visit, following an invitation from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. In a joint statement, Anwar and Mirziyoyev recognized the importance of strengthening existing bilateral ties, expressing a shared commitment to developing a strategic partnership in the future.
The statement, released during Mirziyoyev’s visit, also underscored the significance of expanding educational cooperation. This includes joint research, academic partnerships, and expertise sharing to foster closer ties and knowledge exchange between Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
