China’s Runjian Praises Malaysia’s AI Initiatives, Investment Climate


Kuala lumpur: China’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) solutions provider, Runjian Co Ltd, has praised the Malaysian government’s support for artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives and its investment in the two data centres it is operating in the country.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, Runjian’s vice president, Athena Zhao, mentioned that the company participated in the construction of two data centres in Johor Bahru and Cyberjaya. She highlighted that these data centres provide services for well-known corporations, including YTL Corporation, and shared this information with China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) Asia Pacific participants during their visit to Runjian’s headquarters.



Zhao emphasized that Runjian is focusing on ASEAN due to its proximity to China and the positive relations between the regions. She noted that ASEAN, especially Malaysia, is becoming a hotspot for foreign investment and that Malaysia’s investment environment is more accommodating compared to other countries.



Runjian has already established subsidiaries in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, concentrating on renewable energy, data centres, and AI applications to offer localized solutions for ASEAN customers. Zhao stated that Runjian’s overseas business is expanding rapidly.



During a briefing to CIPCC participants, Zhao mentioned that Runjian collaborates with two Malaysian universities, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in industry-university research.



The China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Centre (CAAIC), during its briefing to CIPCC participants, also indicated that Malaysia is leading among ASEAN countries in the master plan of the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Centre.
