Kuala lumpur: The implementation of the Cloud-Based Clinical Management System (CCMS) at government health clinics has significantly reduced patient waiting times, with 81 percent of patients now able to see medical officers within 60 minutes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib revealed that the adoption of the Dental Information System (DIS) at dental clinics and the Total Hospital Information System (THIS) at hospitals has also enhanced service efficiency, addressing long waiting periods and congestion at public healthcare facilities. Prior to CCMS, patients at some health clinics experienced waiting times of up to three hours, subject to patient turnout and the clinic's workload.
Hanifah Hajar stated, "Current monitoring data shows 81 percent of patients are able to see medical officers within 60 minutes, while the remaining 19 percent receive treatment within 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the severity of cases and the clinic's workload," during a session in the Dewan Rakyat. This was in response to a query from Salamiah Mohd Nor (PN-Temerloh) on the effectiveness of public healthcare digitalisation initiatives, including MySejahtera and electronic health records, in reducing congestion at public hospitals.
The Deputy Health Minister also mentioned the Ministry of Health's plans to continue expanding healthcare digitalisation, aiming to implement CCMS at 2,917 health clinics and DIS at 728 dental clinics across the nation by 2028. She highlighted that MySejahtera enables the public to schedule appointments for 18 types of healthcare services at health and dental clinics, with 29 million appointment transactions recorded to date. This service is expected to extend to specialist clinics at hospitals.
Integration of CCMS with MySejahtera is underway, with the platform currently maintaining health records of around 30 million individuals. These include vaccination details, 12 million prescription records, five million dental records, five million health screening records, and one million clinic visit summaries, facilitating easier access to patient information, quicker treatment, and improved continuity of care across healthcare facilities.
In response to an additional question from Datuk Dr Richard Rapu @ Aman Begri (GPS-Betong) concerning digital system implementation in Sarawak's public healthcare facilities, Hanifah Hajar confirmed that 174 health clinics and 11 dental clinics in the state have adopted the system. Furthermore, THIS is being implemented at one hospital in Sarawak and is planned for expansion to 151 hospitals nationwide by 2030.
