Johor bahru: Causeway Link, a major provider of cross-border bus transportation between Johor Bahru and Singapore, has moved to reassure the public following a strike action by a number of its bus drivers, stating that efforts are underway to address the concerns raised and maintain essential transport services.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a statement today, the company acknowledged that several bus captains had chosen to initiate industrial action, and affirmed its commitment to open communication and a respectful working environment for all employees.
‘We understand the vital role our bus captains play in delivering safe and reliable public transport services to the community. We want to reassure the public and our passengers that we are actively engaging with the relevant parties to address the situation and reach a constructive resolution,’ the company said.
Causeway Link said it is taking all possible steps to minimise service disruptions, particularly on essential routes.
‘We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our passengers and appreciate your understanding during this time,’ it said.
The company expressed hope that through continued dialogue, a fair and beneficial resolution can be achieved for all parties involved.
Yesterday, a video recording went viral on social media showing the crowded situation at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) here at 5.30 am, believed to be caused by disruptions to bus services following the strike.
Local media reported that the strike was believed to be caused by dissatisfaction among bus drivers over adjustments to their salary structure as well as allowance cuts, which allegedly affected their income.
