Kuala lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) will not interfere in matters involving the royal institution and the Negeri Sembilan Council of Justice and Laws (DKU) ahead of the upcoming state election, stated Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the UMNO president, highlighted this stance during a meeting with the state's party leadership as part of preparations for the state polls.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized that BN would refrain from involvement in legal matters, especially those concerning the royal institution and the DKU in Negeri Sembilan. "We will never interfere in legal matters, particularly those involving the royal institution and the DKU in Negeri Sembilan. We must remain outside of that sphere," he conveyed to reporters following his attendance at the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) Excellent Service and Appreciation ceremony.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang was also present at the event. Ahmad Zahid further stated that BN's current focus is to ensure unity among party leaders and members at all levels in preparation for the upcoming polls, which involve 36 state seats.
He noted that the party anticipates facing a different scenario in this state election compared to previous ones. "At the 15th state polls, BN worked together with component parties in Pakatan Harapan (PH), but that approach will not be taken this time. What is important is the unity among leaders and members at all levels to face this (state) election," he remarked.
The polling for the 16th Negeri Sembilan election has been scheduled for August 1.
