Kuala lumpur: Tan Sri Azam Baki's membership in the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre (NFCC) Advisory Board is unrelated to his former role as the chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar clarified that Azam's appointment to the NFCC Advisory Board is under the jurisdiction of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and will remain effective until 2027. "The appointment, if I am not mistaken, runs until 2027. It can only be revoked by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. His appointment is not tied to the MACC chief commissioner post," Anwar mentioned to reporters following Friday prayers at Masjid As-Sodiqin, Taman Kobena.
Earlier, the National Financial Crime Prevention Centre (NFCC) confirmed that Azam continues to serve as a member of its Advisory Board. NFCC director-general Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil issued a statement indicating that Azam's term is set for three years, from September 20, 2024, to September 19, 2027.
