‘Ayam Gunting’ Seller Loses Nearly RM20,000 To Investment Scam

Kuala Terengganu: A woman selling ‘ayam gunting’ lost RM19,050 after falling victim to a fake investment scheme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor reported that the 38-year-old victim encountered an investment advertisement on Facebook on April 15.

Drawn in by the enticing offer, she contacted the suspect, who assured her a profit of RM20,060 with an initial investment of only RM300. After making the first payment, two women identified as Zaharah and Maznah persuaded the victim to make additional payments to unlock the promised returns.

The woman proceeded to make six payments using her savings, pawned jewellery, and even secured a loan. Despite these efforts, over a month passed without any returns, raising her suspicions of being defrauded.

Azli stated that the victim filed a police report at 8 pm yesterday, suspecting foul play. The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
