Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated his consistent stand in upholding democratic principles, including freedom of speech and the right to express criticism in a civil and peaceful manner. He emphasized that criticism and differing opinions should be seen as essential elements of a mature, progressive, and sovereign nation, provided they are expressed with decorum, peace, and patriotism.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his appreciation for the security forces, including the police, fire brigade, medical teams, and volunteers, for their swift and disciplined efforts to ensure public safety and order during a recent gathering. He acknowledged the diverse participants who attended the event to voice their opinions and show solidarity, wishing them a safe journey home.
Anwar highlighted the importance of the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) in Parliament, which allows members to pose questions and express objections directly to him. He urged the public to encourage MPs to actively participate in these sessions, emphasizing the significance of dialogue and discourse in building the nation.
Furthermore, Anwar invited the public to engage in constructive dialogues and explore new fields to contribute to the country’s progress. He also mentioned the ongoing conservation efforts of iconic landmarks in Kuala Lumpur, such as the Sultan Abdul Samad Building at Dataran Merdeka, as part of the initiatives for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, aimed at boosting tourism and supporting the national economy.
