KUALA LUMPUR: Any allegations or attempts to discredit the success of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visits to four countries recently are deemed irresponsible. Political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, emphasized that Malaysia achieved significant milestones through the Prime Minister’s travels to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Peru, and Brazil.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, these visits have fostered various positive impacts, including boosting the nation’s economy through investments, strengthening bilateral trade, and elevating Malaysia’s global reputation. Ahmad Farhan noted on Facebook that the visits demonstrate that the Prime Minister is a proactive leader driving the country towards progress under the MADANI agenda.
The Prime Minister is currently continuing his diplomatic mission in South Korea, building on the successes from the previous visits. Despite these achievements, Ahmad Farhan expressed concern over certain parties spreading baseless accusations t
hat the visits yielded no tangible benefits for the people and the country.
During the visit to Egypt, bilateral trade between Malaysia and Egypt increased by 21.4 percent, amounting to RM3 billion. Additionally, a Proton assembly plant launched in Giza is expected to generate RM570 million over three years, with an additional RM20 million from spare parts sales. An educational collaboration was also established between Al-Azhar University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), and the Ministry of Higher Education.
In Peru, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to explore the establishment of a halal ecosystem in Latin America. This MoU involved the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) and the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU). The agricultural sector also saw growth through collaboration between the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) and Peru’s National Institute of Agricultural Innovation, resulting in a 49.1 percent increase in trade,
amounting to RM1.58 billion.
Significant milestones were also achieved in Brazil, including a US$6 billion offshore investment by PETRONAS, a US$5 billion floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) project by Yinson Holding, and solar energy exploration by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
Furthermore, at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Prime Minister Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to global solidarity and universal justice. He strongly defended Palestinian rights, called for an arms embargo on Israel, and advocated for the removal of Israel from the United Nations, as highlighted by Ahmad Farhan.
