Al-Sultan Abdullah Acknowledges Government Efforts in Pahang’s Development

Kuantan: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed his gratitude towards the federal and state governments for their financial support in implementing crucial projects aimed at benefiting the people, including essential flood mitigation measures.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah emphasized the importance of these flood mitigation initiatives, particularly in Sungai Lembing, an area frequently impacted by floods during the monsoon season. Sungai Lembing serves as an early indicator of potential flooding risks in Kuantan. Speaking at the inauguration of the Sungai Lembing Fire and Rescue Station, the Sultan acknowledged the substantial expenditure required for such infrastructure projects and expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the governments.

Present at the occasion were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, and Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, who also serves as the Paya Besar Member of Parliament.

Furthermore, Al-Sultan Abdullah stressed the necessity of deepening rivers near residential areas to minimize the risk of overflow during heavy rainfall. He also commended the Fire and Rescue personnel for their dedication to duty in various challenging situations, highlighting their critical role in ensuring public safety.

His Royal Highness expressed his personal gratitude towards the Fire and Rescue teams, acknowledging their relentless efforts in responding to emergencies, such as fires and road accidents. He expressed his intention to continue visiting disaster sites to offer comfort to those affected and to recognize the invaluable contributions of the emergency services.

Additionally, Al-Sultan Abdullah proposed the establishment of a volunteer fire brigade in Kampung Bantal, Ulu Tembeling, Jerantut, due to its remote location, which could lead to delays in emergency response.
