Kuala lumpur: ‘A Gift from ASEAN’ exhibition at the National Art Gallery, initially scheduled to end this Thursday, has been extended until December 31 following an encouraging response from visitors. The gallery announced that the decision to extend the exhibition, which began in February, also aims to support the upcoming ASEAN Summit scheduled for October.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the extension reflects Malaysia’s commitment to integrating arts and culture as a core element in strengthening regional ties and elevating the arts as an effective medium of cultural diplomacy. The extended exhibition period is expected to provide more opportunities for local communities and international visitors to appreciate the historic collection on display, thereby reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a cultural and arts hub in the region.
The exhibition showcases 33 artworks gifted to Malaysia by ASEAN member states and four of the ASEAN+6 countries-South Korea, Japan, China, and India-between 1960 and 2009. These artworks symbolize the close diplomatic ties and shared cultural heritage through various expressions of visual art.
The exhibition remains open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, allowing ample time for visitors to explore and appreciate the diverse collection.
