Rabat: Venture capital firm 500 Global announced its involvement in Morocco's Startup Venture Building (VB) initiative, a significant program under the government's Digital Morocco 2030 strategy. This marks an expansion of the firm's presence in Africa.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and executed by TAMWILCOM. It aims to accelerate high-potential entrepreneurs by providing training, early-stage financing, and access to global markets, thereby enhancing Morocco's digital and innovation competitiveness.
Demola Adegbite, a partner at 500 Global and the lead of its Africa venture investments, stated that ecosystems in emerging markets grow most rapidly when public-sector leadership and private-sector expertise are aligned. Adegbite emphasized Morocco's potential as a bridge between Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, and highlighted that the program will link local entrepreneurs to global growth networks.
The firm noted that its partnership builds on over a decade of engagement across Africa, focusing on strengthening early-stage venture ecosystems and improving access to capital for emerging entrepreneurs.
As an implementation partner, 500 Global will assist founders through capability-building, access to its international network, and early-stage capability development, translating public-sector goals into scalable private-sector achievements.
500 Global's broader Africa strategy involves pairing private capital with talent development, infrastructure, and policy support as governments across the continent pursue technology-led growth by 2030.
