2,500 Cyclists Participate in PDRM Penang International Bridge Solidarity Fun Ride

Penang: About 2,500 cyclists joined the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Penang International Bridge Solidarity Fun Ride 2026, which began at Queens Park in Queensbay, here tonight.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event drew participants from 17 countries, including India, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, with ages ranging from 11 to 77. The ride was flagged off by Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib at 9.20 pm, with Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, and Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail in attendance.

Tun Ramli and senior PDRM officials participated in a 10km ride from Kilometre 11.5 of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah bridge. Meanwhile, Tunku Mahkota of Kedah, Tunku Shazuddin Ariff, and consort Che Puan Nur Julie Ariff, joined the 52km ride alongside thousands of other cyclists.

The programme, which commenced at 5 pm, also featured stalls and booths, as well as a performance by the PDRM Penang Mutiara Band. The sixth edition of this night cycling event aimed to strengthen ties between the police and the community, promote healthy living, and offer participants a unique experience of riding along Malaysia's longest bridge in a vibrant, safe, and harmonious atmosphere.
