Kuala lumpur: Fifteen of the 126 decisions made by the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) to address economic challenges and the global supply crisis have been implemented, while 111 are currently being carried out, Economy Minister Datuk Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said. He stated that these decisions resulted from discussions on 28 papers covering 13 economic sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Akmal Nasrullah emphasized that MTEN is not merely a discussion forum but a platform for action, with every decision requiring implementation at the ministry and agency levels. The government has managed the global supply crisis over the past 100 days since the onset of the conflict in West Asia through a data-driven approach, cross-ministerial coordination, and targeted interventions.
He highlighted that 113 high-frequency indicators have been identified, enabling the government to assess risks more rapidly. These indicators are displayed on the publicly accessible Global Supply Crisis Monitoring Dashboard and encompass economic, energy, food, commodity, and logistics-related data.
Akmal Nasrullah assured that the government would continue to prioritize the well-being of the people and the resilience of the national economy amid ongoing global uncertainties. The government is committed to ensuring sufficient supplies of essential goods, a stable energy supply, uninterrupted industrial operations, job security, and effective delivery of assistance to those in need.
The minister pointed out that global supply crises cannot be managed in isolation, stating that pressure on energy affects logistics, which in turn influences prices and industries, ultimately impacting the people. The government intends to continue using MTEN as its main policy coordination platform, closely monitoring data, taking early action, and implementing targeted interventions.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is actively monitoring food prices via the PriceCatcher system, tracking 316 essential items across more than 2,000 retail premises nationwide, supported by 850 price monitoring officers.
