Kelana jaya: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has expelled the Perlis Football Association (PFA) as its affiliate member, effective immediately. Acting FAM president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi announced the decision, explaining that the national governing body had previously given PFA six months to resolve outstanding issues.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the six-month grace period has elapsed, leading to the committee’s decision to remove PFA from its affiliate membership. “The committee decided to sack PFA from being an affiliate member of FAM,” Mohd Yusoff stated during a media conference following the fourth FAM Executive Committee Meeting for 2025-2029 at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya.

With PFA’s expulsion, the association is barred from participating in or representing any football-related activities across the nation. However, Mohd Yusoff clarified that this decision would not affect Perlis GSA FC’s participation in the semi-pro League A1 competition, as the club operates independently of PFA.

Last December, FAM had suspended PFA pending the settlement of outstanding wages and compensation owed to former football director Matt Holland, as mandated by FIFA on December 4, 2019. Despite the expulsion, Mohd Yusoff indicated that PFA could potentially return as an FAM affiliate if it resolves all existing issues.

In the same meeting, FAM also announced changes in its leadership roles. Datuk S. Sivasundaram, the FAM deputy president, will replace Mohd Yusoff as the chairman of the Amateur Football League (AFL). Additionally, Mohd Yusoff will now lead the Finance and Management Committee, the National Football Team Management Committee, and the Emergency Committee. Sivasundaram will also chair the Technical and Development Committee and the Infrastructure Committee. Other appointments include Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail as Competitions Committee chairman and Datuk Saaran Nadarajah as Referees Committee chairman.

FAM vice-president Datuk Dollah Salleh and executive council member Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan
have been tasked with overseeing the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) and the Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD).
