Kuala terengganu: Yayasan Terengganu has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Batik Air to implement the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) Part 66 Category A1 Licensed Aircraft Technician Programme. This initiative aims to develop skilled human capital by providing accredited training and employment opportunities in the aviation industry.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yayasan Terengganu's director Ahmad Farhan Abdul Wahab announced that the initiative commenced with the approval of an education loan for 10 Terengganu students. The programme began on November 3, 2025, and these students will serve as an initial benchmark for the effectiveness of this collaborative model. Priority for the programme is given to applicants who meet Yayasan Terengganu's criteria, including being Terengganu-born, belonging to the B40 group, and having passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination with specified grades. Additionally, candidates must pass an interview and psychometric tests.

The signing of the agreement took place at Wisma Darul Iman, witnessed by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar. Ahmad Farhan, along with Terengganu Education, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Ahmad Shah Muhamed, represented Yayasan Terengganu. Batik Air was represented by their Engineering and Maintenance Division director Lam Hon Kee and Engineering Training Division manager Fahmi Ismail.

Ahmad Farhan emphasized that the collaboration between Yayasan Terengganu and Batik Air is aimed at creating a structured career pathway for Terengganu residents to pursue basic licensed training in aircraft maintenance. This initiative is expected to contribute to the development of a skilled workforce ecosystem in Malaysia's aerospace sector.

Fahmi Ismail reiterated Batik Air's commitment to providing a comprehensive technical training module to produce Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs). He expressed a desire to see Terengganu's younger generation leading the high-technology sector, not only by obtaining training certificates and licenses but also by securing careers. With Batik Air's growth, the demand for engineers and technicians is anticipated to increase, and the company aims to ensure that Terengganu's youth are at the forefront of global airport operations, contributing to aircraft safety and the smooth running of the aviation industry.
