Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the Malaysia-Indonesia border alignment issue during a Special Briefing Session in Parliament this morning. The session, scheduled to commence at 11:30 am, will be broadcast live across several media platforms.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar announced his intention to clarify the matter, hoping to resolve any confusion or misunderstandings that have arisen among the public. In a Facebook post today, he emphasized the importance of the session in providing clarity on the issue.
The border alignment matter has been a point of contention, with Anwar previously denying claims from the opposition that the Malaysian government had ceded over 5,000 hectares of land at the Sabah-Kalimantan border to Indonesia. Recent media reports indicated that a shift in the border line led to three villages in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, allegedly falling within Malaysian territory, further fueling the debate.
