Kuching: Tactical discipline and early pressure were the keys to Kuching City FC's success in their 4-0 win over Melaka FC in a Super League match at the Sarawak State Stadium last night, said head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak. He said his players successfully executed the game plan well, especially the early pressure in the first 15 minutes of the match which allowed the home team to score the opening goal as early as the seventh minute.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aidil Sharin emphasized the importance of crediting the players for adhering to the strategy. He acknowledged that Melaka came into the match with the momentum of their earlier victory, which prompted the decision to apply early pressure. This tactic proved effective, contributing to the team's triumph.
He also stressed the necessity of maintaining the game's tempo, highlighting the need for improved consistency, communication, and mentality as the team prepares for an upcoming match against Kuala Lumpur City (KL City) on Dec 24. The focus now shifts to player recovery and tactical preparations.
Meanwhile, Melaka FC head coach K Devan acknowledged that differences in the quality of imported players and the experience level of local players contributed to his team's defeat. He noted that budget constraints influenced the selection of imported players, highlighting that Kuching City fielded six experienced foreign players compared to Melaka's three.
Despite Melaka's recent 2-0 victory over Negeri Sembilan, K Devan recognized the significant quality gap between imported and local players across both teams. The victory propelled Kuching City FC to second place in the league with 24 points, surpassing KL City by one point.
