Kuala lumpur: Development projects that have a direct impact on the people will continue to be prioritised by the Ministry of Economy in its development expenditure planning for next year, alongside efforts to strengthen the nation's economic resilience. Minister of Economy Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the ministry's development expenditure planning for the year had been submitted to the Finance Ministry for finalisation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Akmal Nasrullah emphasised the importance of prioritising projects with substantial impacts on the populace. He shared these insights with reporters during his visit to the People's Facilities Initiative (IKR) project, which involves upgrading a wooden bridge to a semi-concrete one at Kampung Kalansanan. Despite challenges such as oil price volatility influenced by geopolitical developments, the government remains committed to pursuing national development and ensuring the people's livelihood.

He further elaborated that these priorities align with the objectives outlined in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which focuses on strengthening the country's economic position amidst fiscal pressures that require careful management. The minister reiterated the government's dedication to balancing development goals with fiscal prudence.

Additionally, Akmal Nasrullah highlighted the significant potential of Sabah's blue economy sector. He stressed the need for national-level recognition of Sabah's blue economy, which could unlock more economic opportunities and bolster the nation's economy. He advocated for a broader focus beyond the state agenda to elevate the blue economy in Sabah as a national priority.
