Bangkok: The National men's 4x100 metre (m) freestyle relay team managed to finish on the podium for the second consecutive edition following a bronze medal finish at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 here, today. The Malaysian team, consisting of Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Lim Yin Chuen, and Terence Ng Shin Jian, clocked in at 3 minutes 20.87 seconds (s) at the Sports Authority of Thailand Swimming Pool.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, despite missing out on retaining silver from the 2023 edition, Arvin expressed relief at helping Malaysia remain on the podium. "I can't complain. A medal is a medal. It's good to just get another medal added to the cabinet," he told reporters after the race.
Singapore successfully defended their gold medal and broke their own Games record of 3:16.82s set in the 2019 edition, achieving a new time of 3:16.65s. Vietnam secured silver by finishing with a time of 3:20.01s.
Meanwhile, national swimmer Bryan Leong recorded a time of 24.55s to finish fifth, trailing behind gold medallist Teong Tzen Wei of Singapore, who clocked 23.24s. Singapore's Quah Zheng Wen earned silver with the same time of 23.24s, while the bronze went to Noguchi Logan Wataru of the Philippines with a time of 23.97s.
The swimming competition is scheduled to conclude tomorrow. The SEA Games Thailand 2025 is being held from December 9 to 20 across two provinces: Bangkok and Chonburi.
