SEA Games: Nurul Syasya Secures Bronze in 10m Air Pistol Event

Bangkok: National shooter Nurul Syasya Nadiah Mohd Arifin was unable to defend her gold medal in the women's 10-metre air pistol event at the 33rd SEA Games, as she settled for a bronze medal.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the competition took place at the Sports Authority of Thailand Shooting Range, where Nurul Syasya finished third with a total of 218.7 points. Shooters from Vietnam claimed the top two spots, with Trinh Thu Vinh winning gold and Nguyen Thuy Trang taking silver.

Trinh Thu Vinh's performance set a new SEA Games record with 242.7 points. Nguyen Thuy Trang followed closely with 241.7 points to secure the silver medal. Trinh had previously won bronze at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam and finished fourth at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games final.

Nurul Syasya commented on her performance, stating that she lost focus briefly during the final. Although she regained her composure, it was not enough to secure a higher position. She acknowledged the need for improvement despite considering her performance satisfactory.

Nurul Syasya expressed her determination to stay focused and address her weaknesses to achieve better results in the future. Additionally, she, along with Dina Batrisyia Adi Azhar and Joseline Cheah Lee Yean, won bronze in the women's 10-metre air pistol team event with a total of 1,701 points.

The Vietnamese team of Nguyen, Trinh, and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong claimed the gold medal, setting a new Games record with 1,711 points. Thailand's team of Prucksakorn Tanyaporn, Saencha Kamonlak, and Champalat Natsara won the silver with 1,702 points.
