Johor Regent Praises State Government’s Commitment To People’s Welfare

Johor: The Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, has commended the Johor State Government for implementing various initiatives that have successfully driven economic growth while safeguarding welfare, healthcare, education, and housing in the state. His Royal Highness also expressed pride in Johor's achievements, which have continued to record encouraging performance over the period under the leadership of Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi over the past four years.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tunku Mahkota Ismail emphasized the impact of the Bantuan Kasih Johor (BKJ), benefiting more than 550,000 Bangsa Johor regardless of religion, race, or background, and called for this assistance to be further strengthened and expanded. He acknowledged the economic challenges and rising cost of living, stressing the need for continued support and assistance for the people.

The Regent of Johor praised the state government's achievement in eradicating hardcore poverty, involving 4,612 heads of households as of April 29 last year, as a reflection of the seriousness and effectiveness of the measures implemented. He urged that these initiatives not only continue but also be strengthened to ensure sustained support for those in need.

In terms of housing, the state government has prioritized access to proper accommodation for Bangsa Johor. From 2022 to date, 21,085 Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) units have been completed, with more than 16,000 units already occupied and over 26,000 people assisted in owning their first homes. Additional initiatives include subsidies for new house construction, free homes for over 1,000 households, and repairs on more than 4,000 dilapidated houses, alongside 12 People's Housing Programme (PPR) projects.

On education, Tunku Mahkota Ismail expressed satisfaction with the progress of Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor (SRBJ) and the various forms of assistance provided to students, including the Johor Student Incentive, learning devices, fee and schooling aid, as well as transport facilities and flight tickets. He highlighted the importance of developing quality human capital for the state's future.

The Regent further appreciated the recognition of Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) as one of the World's Best Hospitals 2026, attributing this achievement to the collaborative efforts of the state and federal governments in enhancing the healthcare system's quality and efficiency.

Economically, Johor has attracted RM272 billion in investments, making history in 2025 with RM110 billion in investments, generating over 80,000 job opportunities, a testament to the state's economic vibrancy and commitment to growth.
