DBKL Allocates RM90 Million for Key Traffic Infrastructure Projects in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala lumpur: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is utilising RM90 million in development charge funds to address traffic congestion in the capital through the implementation of three high-impact infrastructure projects. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh announced that the initiative, dubbed 'Projek Trafik Lancar', targets critical locations in the Segambut, Seputeh, and Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituencies. These areas were chosen based on current traffic flow analysis and projected vehicle growth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project in Segambut will involve constructing a road and tunnel linking Jalan Kiara 7 to the SPRINT Highway (Penchala Link). In Seputeh, efforts will focus on upgrading the exit ramp from the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) to the KL-Seremban Highway. Meanwhile, in Wangsa Maju, the plan involves upgrading the intersection of Jalan 7/24 and the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in Wangsa Melawati.

Hannah Yeoh emphasized that these projects aim to resolve significant bottlenecks impacting the daily movement of city residents. In a Facebook post, she highlighted DBKL's new approach to managing development charges, which ensures that every new development directly contributes to the community's well-being, especially regarding road networks, drainage systems, public facilities, and traffic dispersal.

Yeoh further stated that all three projects embody DBKL's commitment to channel development gains back to the people through infrastructure investments that tackle the city's real challenges. The objective is to ensure that infrastructure development aligns with urban growth to meet the needs of the populace.

She also mentioned that DBKL would ensure close monitoring throughout the project period to guarantee that progress remains on schedule and that the quality of work is maintained.
