Kuala lumpur: The Johor government has urged the Home Ministry (KDN) and relevant agencies to investigate the operations of the 'Network School' in Forest City following allegations that Israeli nationals were among its participants. Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the individuals were believed to have entered Malaysia using passports from a second country to attend the programme, raising public concern.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Onn Hafiz stressed that the state government viewed the matter seriously and would not tolerate any individual or organisation using Johor as a base to promote ideologies or activities that contravene the law or undermine the sovereignty and interests of the state and the nation. 'A thorough review and investigation must be carried out into the identities and nationalities of those involved, their travel documents, and the use of second passports,' he said in a Facebook post.
Onn Hafiz further stated that the investigation should also determine the type of passes used, the purpose of their entry into Malaysia, and whether their declared reason for entering the country was consistent with the activities they carried out. In addition to the security agencies, the Menteri Besar said the Higher Education Ministry, the Digital Ministry, and relevant regulatory bodies had been asked to establish the actual status of the Network School's operations and determine whether it had complied with registration and approval requirements under Malaysian law.
At the state level, the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), the Johor Land and Mines Office (PTG), and other relevant agencies have also been instructed to review compliance within their respective jurisdictions, he said. This includes examining compliance with premises licensing conditions, building usage, land title conditions, accommodation arrangements, business activities, and other applicable regulations.
Onn Hafiz also warned that firm action would be taken without compromise if investigations uncovered any breach of the law, misuse of immigration passes, or any element that could threaten national security. 'The state government will continue to act responsibly and in accordance with the law to safeguard Johor's interests and uphold national sovereignty,' he said.
Several posts, including videos shared on Threads yesterday, questioned the actual purpose of the Network School's operations in Forest City, alleging that the programme involved foreign nationals, including Israelis.
