Kuala lumpur: The Central Brigade of the Royal Malaysia Police's General Operations Force (GOF) seized goods worth over RM1.1 billion this year in operations targeting smuggling and cross-border crimes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, GOF Central Brigade Commander SAC Hakemal Hawari stated that the seizures were the result of 538 raids and operations conducted from January 1 to the present day across Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. During this period, 1,649 individuals were arrested for various offences.
The brigade's operations included Ops Taring Nyah 1 in Selangor and Johor to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants, Ops Kontraban to curb the smuggling of goods, Ops Bersepadu Khazanah targeting offences related to wildlife and national resources, and Ops Hazard for addressing environmental crimes. These operations were conducted in coordination with other enforcement agencies at both inter- and intra-agency levels, reflecting a comprehensive approach to tackling cross-border crime.
Hakemal emphasized that the results showcase the GOF's ongoing commitment to combating crimes that threaten national security and public well-being. He also encouraged the public to support the police by providing information and assistance in their efforts.
