Kota kinabalu: Close cooperation between the federal government and the Sabah state government has facilitated comprehensive development programs and welfare assistance, focusing on rural and interior communities. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud emphasized the government's commitment to the people's welfare through initiatives under the Malaysia MADANI framework, which aims for inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the government has addressed the rising cost of living by introducing various assistance forms, such as the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR), fuel subsidies, and essential goods subsidies. These measures demonstrate the government's ongoing dedication to ensuring no one is left behind in the national development agenda. Speaking at the Kenduri Rakyat MADANI programme in Kampung Talungan, Telipok, Mustapha described the event as a strategic platform for more accurate and effective communication of government policies to the grassroots.
He highlighted the importance of access to authentic information in the digital age to prevent confusion and the spread of fake news. The programme, including a mini government service carnival, allowed people to access services directly, saving time and cost. Mustapha also mentioned the Santuni Rakyat Programme, part of a community initiative under the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) through the Jelajah MADANI approach, which promotes two-way engagement between the government and the people in a relaxed and friendly setting.
In the current context of cost-of-living pressures and global economic uncertainties, Mustapha noted the relevance of such programmes. They provide a platform for the public to voice their views and interact directly with government agencies, ensuring the government remains responsive and attuned to the people's needs.
