e-Commerce Revenue Hits RM625 Bln In First Half Of 2025 – KPDN

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia’s e-commerce sector recorded RM625 billion in revenue in the first half of 2025, a RM13.5 billion increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KPDN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohd Sayuthi Bakar cited data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) showing projected total e-commerce revenue for 2024 reaching RM1.23 trillion. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering a balanced ecosystem that supports both consumer protection and business growth.

‘E-commerce platforms have made significant contributions to the national economy and raised living standards, providing Malaysians from all backgrounds with opportunities to generate income and participate in the economy,’ he stated at the Shopee Brands Summit 2025.

Mohd Sayuthi also underscored strategic partnerships between KPDN and e-commerce platforms. He mentioned a RM2 million allocation to Shopee’s ‘Buy Malaysian Goods’ campaign in 2019, which facilitated local sellers in generating RM70 million in sales. He added that this government initiative aids local traders by broadening their market reach and encouraged consumers to support local brands amid current tariff challenges.
