Pahang: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has advised all parties not to politicise delays in the distribution of food aid to flood victims at temporary relief centres. Al-Sultan Abdullah said the delays were caused by the sudden floods, which created challenges for those involved.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed gratitude to everyone who ensured that food reached the victims as effectively as possible. He emphasized that the slight delay on the first day was unintentional and urged against politicising the issue given the challenges faced. This statement was made during his visit to the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bunut Rendang.
His Royal Highness also highlighted the need for government agencies and support teams, including those responsible for food distribution, to remain prepared during the monsoon season to safeguard the welfare of flood victims. Furthermore, he advised flood victims against rushing back home due to the potential threat of a second wave of flooding expected next week.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his prayers for the well-being of flood-affected residents in Sumatra and Aceh, hoping for a swift return to normalcy for them. Meanwhile, he took the opportunity to praise the national polo team for retaining their international title and excelling in regional competitions.
The Sultan expressed his delight over Malaysia’s polo team securing a gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games by defeating Thailand. This victory was particularly significant as Pahang’s Prince Tengku Muhammad Iskandar played alongside the national team, mirroring a feat achieved by Al-Sultan Abdullah over four decades ago.
