Kuala lumpur: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has urged all MACC personnel to give their full cooperation to the new leadership and refrain from any actions that could undermine or sabotage the agency. Concluding his service with the MACC today, Azam said that esprit de corps within the commission was necessary to ensure it remained relevant and successful in its anti-corruption agenda.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azam emphasized the importance of cooperation among MACC officers, stating that the lack of it would be akin to sabotaging the organization itself. He highlighted the necessity for all members of the organization to obey their leader, irrespective of personal preferences, to maintain effective operations.
Speaking to reporters after a special appreciation ceremony held in his honor, Azam urged MACC members to persist in their efforts and take effective action in combating corruption at all levels. He stressed the importance of keeping the organization relevant, building on the legacy of past leadership and continuing to serve the country and its people.
When asked about his post-retirement plans, Azam expressed his commitment to continue serving the people and the country by promoting good governance and supporting MACC's anti-corruption initiatives. He emphasized his willingness to assist in any capacity, drawing on his extensive experience in upholding integrity.

Born on May 12, 1963, in Negeri Sembilan, Azam holds a Bachelor of Jurisprudence (External) from Universiti Malaya. He began his career as an investigating officer at the Anti-Corruption Agency headquarters in 1985, prior to its restructuring into a commission in 2009. Over his 42-year public service career, Azam held several key positions in the MACC before being appointed chief commissioner in March 2020.
