Marudi: A woman driver was killed while two passengers were injured when their car collided with a lorry at the junction of Long Laput, approximately six kilometres from Jalan Long Lama, Baram.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department reported receiving a call about the crash at 11.39 am. Consequently, a team from the Marudi Fire and Rescue Station was sent to the scene.
The woman, aged 41, was found pinned in the driver's seat of her Proton Persona. A 19-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, both passengers, sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance before the firefighters arrived.
The department stated, "The victim was pronounced dead by medical officers and her body was extricated from the car with special equipment by the firefighters and handed to the police for further action."
The male lorry driver, aged 46, was unhurt, according to the department.
