Kuala Lampur:First paragraph of the news story. University students and higher education institutions are set to be key priorities in the upcoming Budget 2027, which is currently being finalized, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated that the budget would encompass various sectors and segments of society, including farmers, fishermen, the Orang Asli, as well as technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking at the Tokoh Siswa Negara Awards ceremony, he assured that university students and universities would be included in the budget, aiming to deliver within existing limitations.

The event saw the presence of Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Deputy Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim, and Higher Education Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim.

Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, emphasized the careful consideration required for Budget 2027 due to numerous requests from associations, departments, and ministries. He noted the importance of addressing diverse needs, from paddy fields in Kedah to fishermen in Terengganu and technology and AI.

Due to his busy schedule finalizing the budget, Anwar canceled most events for the week, except for select ones like the Formula 1 event at the Sepang International Circuit, and chose to attend the awards ceremony for university students.
