Kuala lumpur: The Unity Government is believed capable of maintaining its strong performance momentum in governing the country, with cooperation among its component parties seen as a key factor limiting challenges from the opposition. Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said this confidence is based on the government's achievements in terms of political stability and economic growth throughout the current term.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dzulkefly, who is also the Health Minister, stated that cohesion among the component parties of the Unity Government has contributed to increased investor confidence, steady inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI), and the ability to manage inflation. He emphasized that these developments indicate the Unity Government's performance is on the right track, especially in light of external challenges such as conflicts in West Asia that affect economic projections.
Dzulkefly expressed that the unity approach must continue to be strengthened to ensure that the country's development trajectory and economic growth can be sustained for the well-being of the people. He affirmed that maintaining cooperation and synergy within the framework of the Unity Government would prevent any opposition party or policy from challenging them at the federal level, given their strong track record.
Furthermore, Dzulkefly noted that political stability and close cooperation among parties not only give the government an advantage but also enable the system of checks and balances to function more effectively. Commenting on preparations for the Melaka and Johor state elections, he stated that discussions among parties within the Unity Government need to be expedited to avoid clashes among themselves.
He remarked that it is crucial for discussions to be held promptly so that the government is better prepared to face electoral challenges. Initial discussions have already taken place, and political parties are continually engaged in negotiations. The final decision on cooperation or arrangements will depend on the respective parties' considerations, including partners in Barisan Nasional (BN) in both states. Dzulkefly emphasized that any decision must bring the best benefit to the states and the country.
