Kuala lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil is prepared to present a proposal for a special RON95 petrol quota exemption for registered media practitioners at next Tuesday's National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting. The proposal aims to restore the monthly 300-litre quota under the Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) program, which was recently reduced to 200 litres.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative is in response to concerns raised by Gabungan Kelab Media Malaysia (GKMM), which highlighted the significant challenges faced by media professionals due to the temporary quota reduction. The group stressed that the previous 300-litre allocation was essential for reporters, photographers, and videographers to perform their duties effectively.
In addition to addressing the petrol quota issue, Fahmi announced a shift in the format of the weekly media briefing following Cabinet meetings. Starting next Wednesday, the briefings will adopt a hybrid format, allowing journalists to participate both in-person and online. This change aims to facilitate easier access to the latest updates for media personnel in different locations.
Fahmi emphasized the importance of keeping media practitioners informed and engaged, stating, "This way, reporters in Putrajaya can attend in person, while those in Kuala Lumpur can join remotely and ask their questions online."
