KPDN Detects 31 Cases Of Foreign Vehicles Filling RON95 Since April 1

Johor bahru: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has detected 31 cases of foreign-registered vehicles filling up with RON95 petrol nationwide since the ban took effect on April 1. Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam highlighted the lower fuel price in Malaysia compared to neighbouring countries as a reason for these violations. Some individuals claimed ignorance about which petrol stations offer RON97.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azman revealed the consequences for offenders, which could include compounds or court action with fines reaching up to RM1 million, depending on the severity and details of the violation. He noted that some petrol station operators are still working on configuring their systems to fully enforce the ban on foreign credit and debit cards at self-service fuel terminals.

Meanwhile, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli reported that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 5,984 summons notices, totaling RM2.195 million in compounds, under Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) enforcement since July 1, 2025. He mentioned that 82,987 vehicles were inspected at key locations, including Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB), and Taman Daya.

Aedy Fadly emphasized the cooperation between JPJ and KPDN in nationwide enforcement efforts, particularly in Johor, to monitor foreign-registered vehicles and ensure adherence to laws on subsidised goods. This collaboration involves integrating the VEP system with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to enable real-time detection of foreign vehicles. It also facilitates the sharing of owner profiles and travel records between agencies, enhancing enforcement efficiency and reducing subsidy abuse.
