UMT Student Dies In Accident At Perasing R&R

Kuala lumpur: A student from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) was killed, and her friend suffered injuries after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a road barrier at the entrance of the Perasing Rest and Service Area (R and R) this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kemaman Police Chief Supt Mohd Razi Rosli identified the deceased as Siti Ain Balqis Hamdan, 23, from Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. Her pillion rider, Nur Intan Syafiera Batrisya Hamzah, 22, from Mantin, Negeri Sembilan, sustained injuries to her head, body, and leg.

The incident is believed to have occurred when the victim, travelling from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan, lost control and crashed into the left roadside barrier. Police received an emergency call at around 3 pm. Preliminary investigations found that Siti Ain was thrown to the left side while her friend fell onto the road.

Siti Ain died at the scene, and her remains were sent to the Kemaman Hospital Forensics Unit for a post-mortem. Her friend was rushed to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) in Kuantan, Pahang for emergency treatment.
