UDA Empowers Over 5,000 Rural Communities In Tawau

Tawau: UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA), a leader in property development and asset management spanning investment, property management, hospitality and facilities management, has empowered over 5,000 rural communities in Pulau Sebatik here through its UDA Cares-Project RE (REact, REbuild and REenergise) corporate social responsibility programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UDA chief executive officer Johari Shukri Jamil said the initiative involved repairs to futsal courts and rural libraries, in addition to installing 10 solar lamps at each of the two futsal courts, two at the RELA (Volunteers Corps Department) control post and four more at the Kampung Mentadak Baru jetty.

“The UDA Cares-Project RE CSR programme is among the company’s ongoing efforts in reaching out to and empowering the communities through community programmes,” stated Johari Shukri. The CSR initiative was implemented through the CSR Satellite Programme of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives in conjunction with the three-day Sabah 2025 Programme MADANI Rakyat that ended on May 11.

Johari Shukri also hopes that the initiative will encourage a healthy lifestyle among the locals, especially youngsters, to create a more positive environment. He added that the initiative aligns with the rebranding of UDA, namely L.I.F.E, which stands for Legacy, Integrated, Finesse and Enrich.
