UCTATI Set to Showcase Engineering Skills in 2026 Formula Student Malaysia Event

Perak: University College TATI (UCTATI) will demonstrate its automotive engineering expertise by participating in the 2026 Formula Student Malaysia, scheduled to take place at the Dato' Sagor Circuit this Wednesday and Thursday. The event will see UCTATI's racing team, UCTATI Racing Team (UTRT), fielding two vehicles, Red Shark and Blue Shark, both of which have been fully developed by students from a range of disciplines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UCTATI Rector Prof Ir Dr Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid highlighted that the two vehicles are a testament to the students' technical skills, integrating elements like design, aerodynamic analysis, fabrication, installation, and performance testing within a real-world development environment. He emphasized that the hands-on engineering approach aligns with the current industry needs for an integration of engineering, innovation, and entrepreneurship, ultimately enhancing the employability of Technical and Vocational Education and Training graduates.

Hairul Azhar further noted that UTRT is an established name in student racing, with victories at several tracks, including Melaka International Motorsport Circuit (MIMC), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Sepang International Circuit (SIC), and Kuantan. For the 2026 event, Red Shark is led by Muhammad Adam Alif Muhammad Zani with Che Hanif Haikal Che Mat as the driver, while Blue Shark is led by Muhammad Redaniel Haqim Redzuan with driver Eizzedin Afkar Azil Hizaq. Both teams comprise students from various fields, such as manufacturing, automotive, mechatronics, chemistry, business management, and computer science.

The 2026 Formula Student Malaysia serves as a revival of the Education Innovation and Automotive Race (EIMARace), reinstating a platform for engineering talent development that ceased about a decade ago.
