Two Myanmar Nationals Face Court for Alleged Attack on Policeman

Kuala Lampur:Two Myanmar nationals were brought before the Sessions Court to face charges of injuring a police officer last month. The men, aged 26 and 30, did not have the charges read out to them as they were unable to understand Malay.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Wong Zhi Qian and Hardave Singh Baldeb Sing, recommended that no bail be granted due to the men's lack of valid documentation for staying in Malaysia.

Judge Siti Hajar Mustaffa has scheduled the case for mention on October 14, allowing time for a Myanmar interpreter to be present in court. Both men remain in custody as bail was denied.

The incident reportedly involved a 40-year-old police corporal who was seriously injured after allegedly being assaulted by the two men. The confrontation occurred on September 25 in Kampung Pamah Kulat, following complaints from residents about loud music being played by the roadside. The acting Pahang police chief, Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, stated that the men were believed to be drunk at the time of the incident.
