Queen of Malaysia Provides 200,000 Face Masks to Motorcyclists Impacted by Haze

Johor:Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has generously donated 200,000 face masks to Malaysian motorcyclists working in Singapore in response to the haze affecting Johor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the donation was facilitated through the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) and the Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation (YRZSNJ). The masks were officially handed over to the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Gelang Patah and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI).

The symbolic handover ceremony was conducted by YSIJ senior manager Shah Reza Md Kanafe and YRZSNJ chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abd Rahim. They presented the masks to AKPS KSAB Entry Point assistant commander Wan Muhammad Firdaus Wan Kamari and AKPS BSI Enforcement Unit head Sapian Kamarudin.

Hishamuddin highlighted that the initiative reflects the Queen's concern for the health and well-being of the people, especially workers at risk of respiratory problems due to the haze. He emphasized that Her Majesty consistently prioritizes the health of motorcyclists who face adverse weather conditions while commuting daily.

The total of 200,000 face masks comprises 100,000 contributed by YSIJ in collaboration with Eco-Shop and another 100,000 from YRZSNJ. These masks will be distributed periodically to motorcyclists crossing the two key entry points between Malaysia and Singapore.
