Twelve Orang Asli Men Held For Alleged Trespass In Rompin

Rompin: Police detained 12 Orang Asli men for allegedly trespassing into a company's oil palm plantation in Kampung Tanam, Rompin today. Rompin district police chief Supt Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi reported that the men, aged between 20 and 44, were arrested at 10.30 am following a report from a company representative.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a 44-year-old representative of the company lodged a complaint at 9 am about 12 Orang Asli who had gathered at the oil palm plantation without permission. The police chief stated in a statement that the case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code. The case is expected to be referred to the deputy public prosecutor's office for further action tomorrow.

The Kuantan High Court had issued an order on October 15 for the Orang Asli in Kampung Tanam to vacate the land, as ownership had been granted to the company in question.
