Kuala lumpur: The United States President Donald Trump will be visiting Malaysia from October 26 to 27 to attend the 13th ASEAN-United States Summit and the 20th East Asia Summit. This visit comes at the invitation of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is serving as the Chairman of ASEAN 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this visit will mark Trump’s first trip to the Southeast Asian region since he assumed office as the 47th President of the United States in January 2025. During his visit, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on October 26 for a bilateral discussion.
The agenda for the meeting between the two leaders will focus on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, defense and security, and fostering people-to-people relations under the Malaysia-United States Comprehensive Partnership framework. Additionally, they are expected to discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern and sign documents related to trade and security.
Wisma Putra expressed that this visit is expected to fortify the relations between Malaysia and the United States, opening a new chapter for strategic bilateral ties. The diplomatic relationship between the two nations has been robust since its establishment in 1957.
The United States is one of Malaysia’s largest trading partners and investors, with a total trade value of RM324.91 billion (US$71.39 billion) in 2024.
