Trooper Indiran’s Death: No Evidence of Abuse or Bullying, Says Defence Minister

Pasir gudang: No elements of abuse or bullying have been detected in the death of military personnel Trooper K. Indiran, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He announced that the findings were based on the results of the post-mortem conducted earlier in the day.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled urged the public and political figures not to politicise the issue and emphasized that the matter should be thoroughly investigated. The minister made these remarks while attending a Back-to-School Assistance event for the Pasir Gudang parliamentary constituency.

Mohamed Khaled also mentioned the potential formation of a special committee to further investigate the circumstances surrounding Indiran's death, should the need arise. This follows the call from Penang MIC for a comprehensive and transparent investigation, citing concerns about potential internal injuries.

Trooper Indiran, aged 22, was engaged in an armour crew course at Kem Batu 10 in Kuantan, Pahang, when he was found unconscious on February 18. He was subsequently taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, where he passed away the next day while receiving medical care.

Indiran was the son of Major C. Kayamboo, a pilot with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), who tragically died in a 2016 crash involving an RMAF Beechcraft B200T aircraft. The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Subang Air Base, resulting in a fatal accident near the ammunition terminal at Butterworth Air Base, Penang. Indiran is set to be laid to rest beside his father at Batu Lanchang Indian Cemetery.
