Transport Ministry Warns of Scams Involving Fake Government Orders

Kuala Lumpur:The Transport Ministry (MOT) has issued a warning to the public and service providers about scams involving individuals impersonating ministry officers using counterfeit government orders and procurement documents.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, The ministry revealed that these individuals are misusing the names, identities, and positions of its officers to carry out fraudulent activities. MOT emphasized that all its procurement is conducted according to the government's financial and procurement procedures via official channels, such as the eProcurement System. Any documents that cannot be verified through these channels are deemed invalid and do not represent the ministry.

Suppliers, contractors, and service providers are advised to refrain from providing goods or services or engaging in financial transactions based on suspicious documents until their authenticity is confirmed by the ministry. In case of doubts about the authenticity of documents or Government Orders, service providers are encouraged to contact the MOT Call Centre at 1-800-88-7723 or email [email protected].

The ministry also urged individuals who receive suspected fake documents or suffer losses due to the scam to file a police report immediately and preserve all related documents and communication records for investigation. MOT is taking the misuse of its officers' identities seriously and calls on all parties to remain cautious and verify any dealings involving the ministry through official channels before proceeding.
