Pengkalan Hulu:Residents of Kampung Selarong have been advised to remain vigilant after a Malayan tiger attacked livestock at a local farm and oil palm plantation on September 20. The incident, which took place 174 kilometers from the city, marks the third reported attack in the area this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pengkalan Hulu district police chief Supt Zulkepli Ibrahim confirmed that the latest attack involved a cow found dead with bite marks on its neck at a farm in Rancangan Pengkalan Hulu. The incident was reported to the police on September 23 by the cow's owner, leading to the involvement of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for further inspection.

On September 21, PERHILITAN officers examined the site and confirmed the bite marks on the cow's neck were likely caused by a Malayan tiger. This follows two previous attacks reported on May 23 and June 11, 2025.

In response to the initial incident in May, PERHILITAN installed a trap in the area, although the tiger has yet to be captured. Supt Zulkepli urged residents, especially those near forests, farms, and plantations, to prioritize their safety and report any wildlife sightings to the authorities or PERHILITAN immediately.

Additionally, livestock owners and farmers are encouraged to take necessary precautions to safeguard their animals from potential attacks.
