Kuala Terengganu:The Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG), a continental-level team, is setting its sights on securing at least one podium finish and a top-10 overall position in the upcoming 2026 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), scheduled from September 27 to October 4.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, TSG's chief operating officer, Nasiruddin Wan Idrus, emphasized the team's reliance on their six experienced riders to achieve these goals. The team comprises two local cyclists, Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli and Muhammad Nur Aiman Mohd Zarrif, alongside foreign riders Adne Willemjan Van Engelen, Zeb Kyffin, Mathias Bregnhoj, and Pierre Barbier.

Nasiruddin noted that the 2026 edition of the LTdL, part of the UCI 2.ProSeries, presents a realistic target for TSG amidst competition from many world-class riders. He highlighted the significant challenges posed by the three major climbs in the race: Stage 2 from Taiping to Gunung Jerai, Stage 4 from Meru Raya to Cameron Highlands, and Stage 5 from Tapah to Genting Highlands.

Currently ranked third in Asia with 1,172 points, TSG is behind China's Li Ning Star and Thailand's Roojai Insurance Winspace. With six races left before the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) season wraps up in October, TSG is expected to maintain its third position in Asia. These races include the Oita Urban Classic Criterium and Road Race, Tour de Kyushu Criterium and Tour, Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, and the Polygon Ride by Lerun.
