Yong Peng:The remand of a 16-year-old boy suspected of murdering his classmate has been extended by six days, effective from tomorrow until October 15.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the extension was granted by Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman at the Magistrate's Court. The suspect had initially been remanded for six days starting from October 4, in connection with the death of Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, also 16.
The incident occurred when Irene Sofiya, a Form Four student, was discovered unconscious and covered in blood in a school hall in Yong Peng at approximately 550 p.m. on October 3. She was later pronounced dead, and her body was sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police have classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder. Irene Sofiya was laid to rest at the Kampung Parit Arshad Muslim Cemetery after the completion of the post-mortem.
